Who are the smartest dogs and what’s so special about them?

There are many dog breeds that are smart and intelligent, but believe it or not even dog intelligence comes in three types:

I. There is what is called a dog with “Adaptive Intelligence” in other words it is a learned intelligence that can also relate to problem-solving intelligence measured by IQ tests on the individual canine.
II. “Instinctive Intelligence,” calculated by IQ tests on each individual dog, measures the ability of the dog as far as his instinct is concerned.
III. This third type of intelligence is only dependent on the breed of the dog and is called “Working/Obedience Intelligence.”

Here is a list of 15 Most Smartest Dogs:

1. Border Collie: The smartest of all dog breeds is called a Border Collie. In order to become joyful and happy, a Border Collie must work, work, work. As far as speed, dexterity and obedience this breed is amongst the top ranking dogs.

2. Poodle: The poodle; small, medium and large, are regarded as very intelligent dogs that were originally bred to be water dogs. Today these skillful and obedient, sometimes “show” dog, are also used for rescue missions and hunting.

3. German Shepherd: Is supposed to be another one of the most intelligent breeds of dog, even though it appears as mean and vicious. Many police and rescue dogs are German Shepherd’s.

4. Golden Retriever: These dogs are great companion dogs. They are not the same as Labrador Retrievers. Many Golden Retrievers are used as guide dogs, hunting dogs and rescue dogs.

5. Doberman Pinscher: The Doberman is an energetic German dog that is perfect for breeding and companionship, even though this type dog is both loyal and fierce.

6. Shetland Sheepdog : Not as popular of a dog breed, but the Shetland sheepdog is considered having the same level of aptitude and intelligence as many human beings.

7. Labrador Retriever: One of the most popular dog breeds, the Labrador Retriever is very sharp and is usually used as a bomb sniffing dog, as well as a guide and rescue dog.

8. Papillon: This type of dog is very cute and quite smart. The Papillon dog, a favorite of royalties, is a well-groomed dog; the symbol of elegance.

9. Rottweiler: Although vicious and fierce, the Rottweiler is popular in the police force. The Rottweiler can rescue people, carry heavy items and are relied on for the protection of valuables and expensive properties.

10. Australian Cattle Dog: One of the smartest and most intelligent type of dogs, this breed is very popular and has been used for herding cattle in Australia.

11. Miniature Schnauzer: The Miniature Schnauzer is competitive and feisty, but very obedient. This type of dog has a furry coat and is quite alert and perky.

12. English Springer Spaniel: Springer’s are friendly, intelligent and even-tempered sociable dogs. They are also very courageous and quick learners.

13. Belgian Tervueren : This type of dog is a type of sheepdog. Elegant and slender, it is a smart and obedient dog with protective territorial instincts.

14. Schipperke : This small and tail-less energetic dog is self-confident and alert. The Schipperke bonds well with children and are very loyal.

15. Cairn Terrier: This type of spirited Terrier has an expression that resembles a fox. An independent yet friendly busybody that is loyal and alert.
